Behind the Surrey Casino Map

This page explains how the map and the list on this site come together. It covers who writes the guide, where the town centre points sit, and how distances are measured. It also says what gets left out, and why.

Written by Harriet Sol, a Pen Name

Harriet Sol is a pen name. A small editorial team writes and checks every page on this site under it. The name keeps one steady voice, whichever editor happened to do the typing.

The guide exists because a search for the nearest casino means six different things in Surrey. Someone in Whalley and someone in South Surrey start from very different spots, so the site starts with yours. Pick Whalley (City Centre), Guildford, Fleetwood, Newton, Cloverdale or South Surrey, and the list sorts itself from there.

How the Map Is Drawn

Every point on the map is a pair of coordinates. Town centres use approximate centres, so Whalley sits at 49.1917, -122.8458 and South Surrey at 49.0455, -122.7792. Venues get their own points the same way. When you choose your town, your browser works out the great-circle distance to each venue. That is a straight line over the curve of the earth, so a trip by road is never shorter.

The coastline is drawn by hand. It is schematic, good for getting your bearings and no use for navigation.

Facts come from venue pages, City of Surrey pages and BCLC pages. Each one is kept with its source and the date it was checked. Anything the editors could not confirm is left out, including Elements Casino hours. For those, check the venue's own page before you go. What you are reading is the October 2026 edition.
